Students are encouraged to seek assistance early if they experience difficulties that may affect their academic progress, well-being, or engagement with their studies. Support may be sought for academic challenges, personal circumstances, study skills development, or other issues that may impact a student’s ability to successfully participate in their course.
Student support services are provided in accordance with the Johnston Institute’s Student Support Policy and Procedure, which outlines the range of services available and how students can access assistance. Where appropriate, the Institute may also refer students to external professional services to ensure they receive additional support relevant to their needs.
Support Services Available
Johnston Institute offers a range of support services designed to assist students throughout their academic journey. All internal student support services provided by the Johnston Institute are free of charge to all enrolled students. For our students studying online, we ensure equitable access to all academic and wellbeing support services via virtual consultations, with flexible scheduling to accommodate different time zones.

Counselling and Wellbeing Support

Disability, Accessibility and Equity Support

Safe Campus: Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment (SASH) Support
Johnston Institute is committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all students and staff. We have a zero-tolerance approach to Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment (SASH). Confidential support, reporting options, and referrals to specialized external services (such as 1800RESPECT) are readily available for any student impacted by SASH, ensuring their safety, privacy, and wellbeing.
Careers, Employment and Work Integrated Learning (WIL)
Johnston Institute supports students in preparing for employment and building professional skills.
Career support services may include:

International Student Support

- Study Melbourne Student Centre – providing free advice on accommodation, employment, wellbeing, and legal matters.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student Support
Johnston Institute recognises the unique cultural heritage, knowledge systems, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
