Diversity, Equity & Accessibility

Diversity, Equity & Accessibility

At Johnston Institute, we are committed to providing an inclusive learning environment and ensuring equitable access to education for all students. We foster an inclusive environment that values diversity in background, identity, ability, culture and experience.

Our Diversity and Equity Policy

To ensure prospective and enrolled students can make informed decisions about their educational experiences, we maintain a comprehensive Diversity and Equity Policy. This policy is designed to eliminate barriers to access, participation, and success, including for students with disability, health conditions, caring responsibilities or other special needs.

We encourage all prospective students to review this policy prior to enrolment to understand their rights and the support available to them.

Support for Students with Special Needs (Accessibility)

If you have special needs, we strongly encourage you to contact our Student Services team before accepting your offer or enrolling. This allows us to discuss course requirements with you and ensure you have all the relevant information to make an informed decision about your studies.

We provide reasonable adjustments to support students’ participation in learning and assessment. Adjustments are determined on an individual basis and may include:

  • Alternative assessment arrangements

  • Assistive technologies

  • Flexible attendance or participation options

  • Accessible learning materials

  • Ergonomic or physical access adjustments

How to seek support: To request support, students should contactas support@ji.edu.au as early as possible and provide relevant supporting documentation.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples

Guided by our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Policy, we are committed to fostering cultural safety, inclusion, respect, and wellbeing.

To support recruitment, participation, and completion, the Institute may allocate dedicated course places, entry pathways, scholarships, or bursaries. Furthermore, students’ reasonable requests for special consideration to observe indigenous customs and culture shall be respected and accommodated.
